We believe that gifting is an art form. Every gift we make is carefully designed to deliver a moment of wonder to the special someone on the receiving end—and that’s where the experts come in.

Below, gourmet manager Isabel Winston walks us through the making of a Winston-worthy gourmet crate (and spoiler alert: it’s a delicious job).

The Big Picture

First of all, this is Winston Flowers—so you know it’s got to be gorgeous. To create gourmet gifts that are as enticing to the eye as they are to the palate, we consider the following:

This is the foundation of everything we do. Most of our boxes are reimagined seasonally so we’re always offering what our clients are craving at that very moment.

Color coordination

We aim to create compelling, clean layouts that tie in with the current floral collection and the Winston Flowers brand. In fall, for example, we’ll focus on earthy tones with pops of red, orange, and gold, and holiday will feature red and green plus some crisp winter blues.

All wrapped up

First impressions matter! Our packaging is carefully considered so that the overall collection has plenty of texture and dimension, and each individual box looks good enough to eat.

The Main Event

For a Winston Flowers gift crate, no ordinary snacks will do. Isabel and her team search far and wide for vendors and products that will surprise and delight our clients.

Meet the makers

We seek out local vendors in New England and New York—with preference to women- and family-owned businesses—that pour as much passion into their products as we do.

Big Picture Farms in Townshend, Vermont (family-owned); Gräem Nuts and Chocolate in Concord, Massachusetts (female-owned); Norwegian Baked in Brooklyn, New York (female-owned)

Drool-worthy treats

Our team taste tests dozens of items to select the very best small-batch, seasonally-inspired sweets and savories like fudgy brownies, slow-roasted nuts, handmade truffles, and umami-rich charcuterie. Yes, it’s a tough job—but somebody’s gotta do it.

Sky-high standards

We’re always on the lookout for exclusive, specially-sourced products that are made with care and clean ingredients (no fillers or additives here!). And the real fun starts when we collaborate with some of our vendors, like Chocolate Therapy, to create custom treats just for our collections.

Don't forget the wine

We love a good label, but aesthetic isn’t the only consideration. We aim to take the guesswork out of gifting by featuring wines that are universally loved, such as cabernet and chardonnay.

The Finishing Touch

A fresh addition

To create the floral arrangements included with some of our gourmet crates, our designers are careful to coordinate the colors and textures with both the other items in the crate and the current floral gift collection. We are Winston Flowers, after all.

Ready for the close-up

Once each crate is curated, finalized, and confirmed with the vendors, it’s time for styling and photographing! This is where we’re able to showcase the beautiful and delicious treats inside the packaging—and maybe taste a thing or two along the way.

The big reveal

Launch time! We introduce four seasonal collections on our website each year: spring, summer, autumn, and holiday (which transitions into winter), plus we offer themed specialty crates along the way. Some of our favorites include Valentine’s Day date night boxes, spa kits for Mother’s Day, Easter baskets, and a spooky selection of Halloween-themed treats.

And we're off

We love to see our clients send our gourmet gifts for everything from birthdays and anniversaries to hostess and holiday gifts. Our team hand-delivers our boxes to local delivery areas in Greater Boston, New York City, Westchester County, and Fairfield County. But best of all? We ship most of our gift boxes nationwide.

Anyone else feeling hungry?
